Domestic hot water unit by Ariston, model Lydos Hybrid Wifi 100. It heats the 100 L tank with an air-source heat pump and falls back on the electric element only when demand or air temperature call for it. The declared energy class is A, against the class B or C usual in an electric storage heater of the same size.
The heat pump takes energy from the room air, so it needs the minimum air volume or the ducting the manufacturer specifies, and must not be installed in a closed, sealed cupboard. Bear the sound level in mind when choosing the location and plan the condensate drain. It needs a 230 V supply, a safety valve on the cold water inlet and a qualified installer.
