A tower purifier from the Leitz TruSens range for rooms of up to 70 m2 according to the manufacturer. The 360-degree filter captures 99.97 % of particles at 0.3 micron and the carbon layer deals with volatile organic compounds and odours; a UV-C lamp acts on the microbes held in the filter. PureDirect technology splits the treated air into two streams, and the remote SensorPod, placed away from the unit, measures air quality at the other end of the room and regulates fan speed.
When choosing an air purifier it is worth comparing the clean air delivery rate (CADR) and the room size the manufacturer declares for it, the filtration stages and the cost and frequency of replacement filters, the noise level in the quietest and in the maximum mode, and the power draw in continuous operation. To deliver the stated figures the unit needs free space around the air inlet and outlet grilles, a position out of the way and a 220-240 V socket; filters are replaced on the schedule given in the manual and are not washed unless the manufacturer allows it.
